Cap of Rs.2.00 crore in MEIS

As you are aware, DGFT had put a cap of Rs.2.00 cr. on grant of MEIS upto 31st December, 2020. This cap has been put in the month of September 2020 by which time the exporters have already contracted export orders and factored MEIS in their costing. Putting of cap suddenly and arbitrarily has seriously affected all the exporters. Large number of exporters are affected by this decision.

Some large exporters have already gone to the court. As you are aware, the decision of the court will be applicable only to the petitioners. Hence we request you to let us know your interest in filing a legal case against the imposition of the cap of Rs.2.00 crores.

We will plan our next course of action after knowing the number of exporters interested in proceeding legally to recover our loss.
